As a result of European developments, it was found essential to create an organisation representing the interests of private port operators, i.e. stevedores and terminal operators, at European level. This resulted in the foundation of FEPORT on the 13th of January 1993. Its membership consists of national and regional sector associations in EU Member States, EFTA and accession countries. In addition, in view of the importance of many recent policy developments, many of the main European terminal operators have joined directly as associate members.
Through its large network of national associations and companies, FEPORT represents more than 1200 companies across Europe and Turkey.
There are two categories of members within FEPORT : Plain members and Associate members.
Membership is open to cargo handling and/or stevedoring companies or national associations representing cargo handling and/or stevedoring companies.
Membership is open to companies or organizations who perform activities in connection with the cargo handling industry such as service or equipment providers after approval by the Board of Directors.
