Hutchison Ports Gdynia(GCT)Achieves 4 Million TEU Milestone On Wednesday, 4 November 2020 Hutchison Ports Gdynia, a member of Hutchison Ports Group,has reached a milestone of handling 4 million TEU since the commencement of operations in March 2006. The 4thmillion container was discharged from MV DURANDE, serving Hapag-Lloyd’s NPX (North Sea Poland Express) service. The milestone is a special one for the terminal and itsemployees,continuingly serving the Customers for the last 14 years.

Since 2005,Hutchison Portshas carried out a number of investment programmes at thePort of Gdyniaspending over 100 million EURO,which transformed the former shipyard company owned by Gdynia Shipyard into a modern container handling facility.

Currently carried out Bulgarskie Quay modernisation will as from Q4 2021enable GCT to accept biggest vessels able to enter Gdynia Port (max length367m / max draft 13.0m).Bulgarskie Quay is the most modern container quay in the Port of Gdynia equipped with two rail gauges of 20m and 30.48m and axle loads sufficient for quay cranes with the outreach of70m.The Quay willbe dredged up to 15.5m.In the next phase Port of Gdynia has planned dredging of the inner basins and completion of the widening of the turning basin, which once completed will allow to accept vessels up to400mlongand with draft 15.0m.

These developments are part of an ongoing process to continuously enhance the capabilities of Hutchison Ports Gdyniaand its transition toward becoming the region’s port of choicenot only for feeder and short-sea trades but also for direct calls with ocean-going container vessels.

The investments performed by Port of Gdynia Authority and Hutchison Ports Gdynia respond to the market demand and increase the competitiveness of the Port of Gdynia on the Baltic Sea market.
